Hey guys! Just found your podcast, and listened to all of the episodes within a couple of days. I self-published my novel MOTOR DOLLS September 2013. My agent had shopped the novel, we had interest from Penguin and St. Martins, but ultimately, did not get through the ed boards. Rather than shelf the book, I put it out there on my own. So far I’m enjoying the marketing end–building the website, writing a blog to my target audience, social media interactions–but I’m looking for other avenues. I just finished my first Goodreads Giveaway resulting in nearly 700 “adds” to reading lists.

My question is this: I’m looking for the next way to expand, and am curious about author blog tours. Are these worth the time and effort? Or is it better to focus on my target market rather than other authors? Also… what about contests? They’re expensive to submit. Worth it?

Keep up the great work. Lovin’ it!

Love your podcast and did a marathon too of the posts. My question pertains to Goodreads. I don’t do much on the site as an author but I thought of doing a giveaway for my next book release. However, after Googling it, I discovered an issue with Trolls on the site and how an innocent giveaway could turn into a author bashing session in the forums and and comments.

Have you seen this and can comment on the issues there? They seem to target Indie authors.

    Thanks!
